The Brooklyn Bridge opened in 1883. At the time, it was the longest suspension bridge. It has been designated a National Historic Landmark by the National Park Service, and a New York City Landmark by the Landmarks Preservation Commission.

The Brooklyn Bridge connects two New York City boroughs: Manhattan and Brooklyn, soaring over the East River. The Brooklyn Bridge is an iconic part of NYC and in order to truly appreciate the Brooklyn Bridges' beauty you have to walk on it, this is the only way for you to actually experience the true beauty of the Bridge. It’s not a terribly long walk, just about at 30 minutes from Brooklyn into Manhattan with some time for picture takings, admiring the structure and architecture of the bridge itself and enjoying the views of the city from above the East River. Afterward you will gain a new found respect and appreciation of the bridge and its history.

If you have time on your visit, check out famous Grimaldi’s Pizzeria, located directly underneath the exit of the bridge, in DUMBO. You can’t just visit the Brooklyn Bridge without having a Grimaldi’s Pizza slice.
